A bit off topic and alienating, hm?

“I know I’m not your average gal. I LOVE sports. Football… How many girls could do that?”
Jillian Barberie

I see this commercial quite a bit. Well, less than I used to because now I’m working! Yay! Back to the subject. I have seen a few different NutriSystem commercials - but this one really caught my eye. It’s annoying as hell, for one thing. But I find more wrong with this one - I’m going to ask that you watch the following video and then see if you agree with my opinions about it.

So… did you catch it? Well, you probably knew what you were listening for, seeing as it’s the quote at the top of the page. Here’s my point - This commercial is aimed toward women - correct? It’s supposed to make women look at her and say “I wish I looked like her. Maybe I’ll try this food plan.” And most of the video is fine, but then she completely reverses much of what the commercial accomplished by alienating their target audience with the statement that basically says, “I’m better than most women you’re going to meet - because I look like this and you don’t, and also because I like football. I’m the total package and you’re not.” Does anyone else get that feeling? What does football have to do with it? And she shouldn’t be trying to impress the guys with this one (siding with them about sports) she should be trying to empathize with the ladies. They’ll be the ones buying this product and using it for themselves, not the husbands. At least not the ones that want to keep their fingers attached.

And, while looking around on Youtube, I found one for Danielle Fishel. For those of you who don’t know who she is - the first 5 seconds of the video will help explain that. Is it just me, or did you like Topanga when she was a bit chubby? She’s always been busty and she was cute - definitely not obese. But this commercial is just hilarious. Terrible quality, I apologize.
